Backyard Garden Lighting on Northern Shores Neighborhood home, Greensboro, NC 27455

Like many  things there is a right and a wrong way of doing things. Lighting is no different. These clients weren’t as focused on the house as they were the landscape.  Usually the home is the backdrop that provides the structure and height to the lighting design. The home was to be subdued on the home and provide just enough light in the front of the home to be inviting, but not over done. The driveway and sidewalk were most critical here. Guests now have a beautifully lit path guiding guests in and out of the home. A couple of trees where highlighted also, but not architectural lighting on this home was desired.

The backyard is where these clients really wanted to create a scene. Obviously, there were beautiful vegetable gardens t0 bring attention to, but also the plantings, paver patios, stone walkways, and outdoor furniture were important to this garden lighting canvas. Adequate garden lighting was needed to guide guests from the driveway through the backyard fence and down into their backyard oasis.

When talking with our clients, Southern Lights always tries to listen for what’s most important from our client’s perspective. In this case and in our company motto of (Safety. Security. SERENITY), All three of these focuses played an equal role in these lighting designs:

• Safety lighting was needed to address the elevation changes throughout the property and along the long winding sidewalk and into the vegetable gardens.
• Security lighting was needed to help illuminate a very dark back and side yard and keep intruders out.
• SERENITY lighting is always needed to give the space and property a clean and natural design during evening hours. Tying the function with the beauty is always our goal.
