“I Payed a lot of Money for These Lights. Why Aren’t They Working?”

A dissatisfied client is always bad for business. This is why we work hard to ensure that we not only incorporate high quality materials in our projects, but also strive to perfect our installation so as to eliminate any potential failures down the road. Top quality products poorly installed, or cheap products with good installation are both scenarios for failure and frustration. We avoid both.

Just because someone installed the system for you, doesn’t mean they used professional grade fixtures or installed the system in a professional manner. If that is the case, even if they did the installation portion correctly there are some things about cheap fixtures that can’t be overcome (i.e. if a fixture can’t keep moisture out, it won’t be long until it fails. Or if a fixture is poorly constructed, it can warp, bend or break.)

Many handymen or landscape contractors doing lighting as an add-on, who are likely decent folks but are not professional installers, will install outdoor lighting for you. They just don’t have the training and certification, experience, techniques or proper materials to truly give you a professional design or installation. And their sub-par installation will result in outages and repairs. Because of our training, certification and years of experience, we know what works. And what doesn’t.

Sometimes we get calls because the original installer won’t return calls or honor a warranty. Or has gone out of business. Often it’s because they didn’t really know what they were doing regarding outdoor lighting, and just don’t know how to deal with any problems. We know what fixtures will perform best in your setting and where to put them, and how to showcase your house to look its best without creating glare or dangerous dark shadows. Lastly, we know how to service your system and keep it performing at its best. It’s. What. We. Do!

Even if the fixtures are professional grade, poor installation techniques will doom the system to premature failure. The connections are very important to how your lighting will perform. Poor connections will always equal issues. We employ connectors that are made specifically to hold up to the particular demands of being in the outdoors, underwater, or in harsh climates. We’ve seen it all; regular wire nuts (indoor use only), wires simply held together with electrical tape, and even gum has been found on job sites.

And finally, warranties. Sometimes things break down, even with quality fixtures and top-notch installation, but professional grade products installed properly should not have frequent breakdowns. A true professional will not just warranty their work, but be around to service it and honor that warranty if need be. The fixtures should have a lifetime warranty if they are copper or brass. Most retrofit LED bulbs should have at least a 5 year warranty whereas integrated LED fixtures can carry anywhere from 10 years to lifetime warranties.  Low voltage transformers generally will have a 10 year to lifetime warranty and your contractor should be warrantying their wire and connections, we offer a 10 year warranty. Get your warranty in writing. See ours in print here- No Hassle Lifetime Warranty.

When you employ a true professional outdoor lighting designer and installer, who is trained and certified and who uses professional grade products and techniques, your lighting system should work flawless for many years. And if something happens, a certified outdoor lighting technician should easily be able to get you up and running quickly. Don’t make the mistake of skimping on product or installation. You’ll end up wishing you hadn’t. But if that happens, call us; we’ll get you back on track!
